Digestion

Having suffered with IBS for about 10 years and been told by many medics "there is nothing wrong with you", "you just need to be less stressed" I had pretty much given up on seeing an improvement in my health.  I had found that colonic irrigation and herbal remidies helped for a little while but the symptoms quickly came back.  The frequency, urgency and discomfort was something I thought I was always going to have to live with.  A friend recomended me to Awais.  I had no understanding of how accupuncture might be able to help me but I was willing to give it a try.  It was one of the best decisions I've made.

Upon meeting Awais I immediatly felt comfortable & respected. The perspective he had on my condition gave me a new way to conceptulise my experience and new options for healing.  I embarked on weekly treatment which consisted of accupuncture, cupping, use of herbs and a heat lamp, followed up with diet recommendations and breathing exercises to do at home. The chronicity of my condition meant I needed weekly treatment for about a year, then when I was ready we reduced to fortnightly and now we're at monthly. Awais left the decision of when to reduce with me because he understood how much I valued the sessions. They had become a key part of my coping strategy / self care routine. This was related to the effectiveness of treatment and perhaps more related to the warm secure relationship I had developed with Awais. I have always found him to be honest, kind, gentle, reassuring and approachable. There are no judgements in that room, only genuine human connection. He makes me feel safe.

Over the year I had other complaints which I brought to Awais. He has helped stabalise my monthly cycle after 10 years of being on the pill and my body being seriously unhappy about me choosing to have a coil inserted. He's sorted out back aches, training injuries, coughs, tooth ache. I'm quite convinced he'd be able to fix any complaint I have! I'm so convinced I've recommended many friends and I have thought many times that I would have Awais treat my children if I'm still in London when I get around to having some.

Anyway, back to my original complaint. The IBS only needs maintainence sessions now. I can't say I'm completely healed but that is more related to my lifestyle than anything else. I notice that the more breathing I do, the better I eat and the less toxins I put in me the more able my body is to handle the rest of life. Treatment by Awais keeps me topped up when my resources are low and I'm finding it difficult to take proper care of myself. In my opinion accupuncture is the treatment of choice for IBS and Awais is the practitioner of choice. I've been to a fair few places and The Seven Heavens clinic is the best.
